All three companies offer product assembly at home jobs to home based crafters and seem to belong to the same group which is the Holm Productions. Their pin code, location and the website footer is the same. The report from the Better Business Bureau about this work at home opportunity also lists all companies under the same head i.e Rets, Inc. with the contact person being the same person. The BBB has nothing good to say about this company, as is the case with the majority of the Product Assemlbing companies.
The number of employees in the company seem to be just the one person Mr. Greg Holm who is the proprietor. Is this at all possible for a business? Having just one person in employemt?. The description of the crafts that one needs to make to work from home for this business is deceptively simple. The keychains and the bookamarks are not as simple to make as they may sound, if the feedback from the people is to be believed. The suggested income is in tune of several hundred dollars if you can finish 3 batches and above in a week’s time. This is an unrealisctic goal for most of the people who want to do basic product assembly work from home. 3 in a month is a more likely standard and that too after you after you have got the hang of making the craft.
The following are some details for all the three work at home opportunities.

i have noticed that it ask you topay to down load the kits, I they send you the kit when you started towork for thecompany. is this another scam too, money is to hard to come by to be just throwing it away on a download you get nothing return for.
Hello Brenda,
Thank you for writing in. It is not clear from what you have written whether you are referring to the download of the eBook or the price that you have to pay to purchase the start up kits from the assembly company. As far as the ebook is concerned, you need to purchase it all. Just go through the blog and you will find plenty of information about assembly companies. The ebook just has more of them and in one place that makes the listing more organised.
As for paying for the start up kits and whether the whole product assembly work is a scam or not, that is the reason why this blog exists. People have given their feedback and experience about this home based work. Some positive and some negative. There are good companies to work for and then there are those that are work at home scams.
However, we believe that it is not possible to make a substantial income from doing this kind of work even if you are working for a genuine craft making home based company.
It is better suited to crafters who like to do this kind of work as a hobby and of course do not mind the little extra cash that comes with it.
Please see our posts on New England Crafters and Valerie’s Hattery.
I am working on the EZ bookmark since July 2010. I have not been approved. They say everything is correct but the knots are not even. Is there a support group in Nashville, TN that has approval that can help me?
Does anyone know anything about Creative Wood Works out of NJ, whick makes kids
pull toys or New England Crafters & Magical Gift company out CT. I’m interested in trying
one or the other but with all the scams out there, and if they are legitamte how difficult is
it to be approved. I can’t afford to throw money away.
thanks

Hello Tanya,
Thank you for writing in. You must have already read the comments made by people on this post before you and what they have to say about the work at home opportunity by JD’s Key chains. We hope you are able to gather something from that. Stuffing envelopes is quiet definitely a scam and has been for a long time.
All major companies have postage machines which stuff, sort and meter mail. Even if they do not, paying somebody $3-$10 for stuffing each envelope is unrealistic and does not happen. What does happen is that the person is provided with a list of addresses and is expected to send out flyers and advertisements to other people advertising the same so called envelope stuffing opportunity. You get money if someone else falls for it as well. Other times they are affiliate marketing offers or MLM programs. While affiliate marketing and MLM is something that could work, it is not what you signed up for and takes a lot of work to make any money from it. There is stiff competition in this field.
We would like it if you could share what your experience with envelope stuffing was.
At this point there is not much information available on JD’s Key chains apart from what you gather from the comments above.
You have the address and contact information from the above post. We would appreciate it if you could up date this page with your comments on how your dealings with them are going so far.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Regards,
Admin.
I have been doing my (hardcore) homework on these make money from home sites because I don’t want to be deeper in debt than I am right now. I tried to get into a program stuffing envelopes from home only to find out that it’s a scam. I hope that JD’s keychains aren’t because I’m really considering it. I’m a stay at home mom living off of unemployment and am looking for some extra money to make so we can do some extra things and also to help my fiance to provide for me and my children. If anyone has any info about JD’s keychains not being a scam, please let me know. I love crafts and would love to do it for a living. Must be with them at least 6 mos to a year. Thanks so much.

I am not for sure what you are saying I am wrong about?
Were you saying I am wrong about who owns the companies?
What I posted was what I was told by the Chamber of Commerce, the people in the office of EZmark and it is also stated on different internet sites.
If EZmark, Sonrise and JD Keychains are independently owned and not owned by Greg Holm then I was given false information.
The rest of what I posted was my opinion from my experience from making the bookmark and sharing with many others trying to make these crafts while posting on a crafting forum for over a years time.
The bookmark was very difficult for most to get approved on and and then after getting approved it can be very difficult to make them correct over and over. I was the only person who was successful.
Just sharing my opinion from experience and not trying to embellish.
Deborah
They have an 800 number you can call toll free. Call and ask any question you may have.
You will find their toll free number on their website. I know it is listed on the EZmark Bookmark website.
I was looking at there bookmarks and i couldn’t help but notice that it looks alot like boondaga. An activity I use to do as a kid with colored string they have at the strong museum. Atleast that what i remember it being called. but just looking at it. I can probably make this with out the instructions.
Cindy? Are you able to send in extra product to cover any that are not up to their “standard?” I.e. send in extras in case some are “rejected”?
Deb
I work for Mr. Holm and I would like to inform you all that Cindy is quite wrong. Mr. Holm is an owner in Simple Knots and Simply Ornamental. JD’s Keychains, EZMARK Bookmarks, Sonrise Greetings, etc. are independently owned companies. Holm Productions is somewhat of a call answering service for the companies handling giving out information to seeking self employers, and getting them started with their starter kits. There is no scamming involved. Holm Production is a legite company, and those not satisfied with making the products, or if they decide it is simply not for them can get refunded for their starter kit. Crafts are not for everyone, that is why you have 30 days to try it out and either do it or return it. The crafts are handmade and therefore when they are sent in they are hand inspected by actual people. If it was a scam, you probably would not be connected with actual people and you probably would not have the option for a refund. The crafts come with easy to read instructions, diagrams, and the materials to usually complete an entire unit of whatever craft it is you want to make. You are reimbursed for materials you buy to make and for the postage you pay for when you send in a complete unit. Like I said, crafts aren’t for everyone. If you find it hard it may not be for you, if you do not practice something you’ll never get better, so do check into something before you try to knock it..
You talk as though you are not sure if this is a scam. You seem to think that connections with people and guarantees make it valid.First of all,the scam artists can get an answering service (that is nowhere near them) to do their dirty work.Secondly, talk is cheap and anybody can say anything to anybody.Guarantees are only as good as the one guaranteeing them.Lastly,If you say that you work for Mr. Holm ,then why do you say IF this is a scam. You are really gullible if you believe what they tell you. I think that your belief is based on wishfuk thinking and not fact.

I am so sorry you have not been able to make the key chain to be approved.
I am the gal who has posted and I do get paid for making the bookmark. I was told the bookmark is the easiest of their crafts and I had a very difficult time getting approved and paid for this craft.
I am very sorry to hear you feel it has been a waste. I know there are other craft companies that even charge more for mailing and you also have to pay for the mailing back to you with some of these companies.
With Ret;s you can mail first class and they pay for the return postage.
I do know they pay some cause I am getting paid. The Keychain, Simple Knots and the Sonrise Greeting Card are all owned by Greg Holm. So I would assume none of these crafts are a scam. But maybe difficult to get approved and paid.
All need to be aware of these things.
I tried making the keychains. And I have at least 15 – 20 that have been rejected. I just wanted to know if this is just a scam. I’ve been at this for 2 years and the postage is getting expensive. Thank you for wasting my time and putting me deeper in debit
I’m thinking about doing the key chains…does anyone have any experience doing them?
Yamilett I know the Ret’s company allows people from Canada to work for the company.
If you would write them or call their 800 number you could find out about living in Mexico and working for them
Good Luck
hi i was working for ez bookmark and then i have to come back to mexico, i want to know if i could work here, cuz i already paid and get aprove i paid $35 dll i dont now if a still in their program.some could help me
thx
and god bless you guys
This is a question regarding my last post.
I have a couple of type o’s, may I fix them or can you fix them before this is posted.
Thank You
I work for EZmark Bookmarks. I turn in one unit a month. Have been with them for a year. That year includes the approval process. It took me three tries to get approved. Also lots of practice to make the bookmark so I would get paid. This craft took lots of time for me to learn but do enjoy making the bookmark and fiond the staff of Ezmark very nice to work with.
I believe all the work at home craft companies embellish what you can make a month in their advertisements. I also feel most will quit before getting paid because of the difficulty of learning to make the craft. I believe these companies make most of their money from selling the kit. But some make a little monmey and seem to enjoy making the craft. These companies most probably have a very small payroll.
I am glad to hear that you got approval and are getting paid. For the past 3 rejections they tell me the same thing. Everything on my sample is correct except a few knots that are not even. I can’t see what they are talking about. Any input would be helpful to me. I am working with EZ Bookmarks.
Hello Cynthia,
You have aptly summed up a large portion of the circumstances behind assembly jobs. Thank you for posting.
