If you are looking for a craft job at home there are a couple different approaches that you can use to land yourself the right home based craft job. As the phrase “job” suggests, you need to have an employer that you can work for. So the trick really is to find suitable employers that are willing to hire crafters who want to work from home. You will have to scrounge your local area for craft stalls and retailers as well as the Internet for offline craft businesses in order to approach all the suitable and potential employers. The good news is that the field of craft making is such wear home based employees and workers are welcome. Since many of the craft businesses may be small or medium level enterprises, all crafters that can work from home and achieve a level of professionalism are greatly encouraged. I hope you do not get the impression that craft businesses are mostly poor and they cannot afford to pay their employees. Nothing could be further away from the truth. The crafting industry is one of the most successful and widely established in the small-business enterprises of United States of America. There are many major craft making businesses and craft stores. Craft business is huge not only in the US but all across the world. The second reason why working from home is encouraged is that craft making is an art. In order for businesses to look for talented craft makers it would be the restrictive growth policy to limit themselves to searching for creative talent only in the local area. Craft businesses are always on the lookout for new crapped ideas as well as new crafting talent. Which is why they are not averse to hiring people in different areas of the country and having them work from home.

As mentioned before the key to finding a suitable craft job at home is to find a suitable employer. So what your attitude is conducted an effective search for craft businesses. Do not lament yourself still looking for employment opportunities only in your local areas because, as it has already been established, talented people are hired from all across the country to make crafts at home.

SEARCHING FOR CRAFT JOBS LOCALLY

Searching for craft businesses and craft stores locally should not be a difficult process. You may already be well aware of the major craft stores. Maybe you are lucky enough to have an entire crafting market in your local area. You should go and have a careful look at all the major and minor markets carefully in order to spot craft businesses that you might have missed. Upcoming of shopping malls is a boon since it puts so many stores under one roof. You may be able to find what you’re looking for just by visiting a couple of the popular malls in your area. If you are still unsure of whether you have covered the ground, all you need to do is go through the Yellow Pages and spot all the Craft business stores and retailers that maybe potential employers. You also need to find out whether craft fairs are regular feature in and around where you live. Craft fairs can be excellent networking grounds for someone who is seeking employment in the field of craft making. People from all across the country participate in major craft fairs. They are more than willing to give up their contact details and discuss new opportunities for themselves. If you feel that you have something to offer you be just find yourself friendly and receptacle ear of a craft business owner. Not only that but visiting craft fairs give you an excellent idea of the state and requirements of the current craft business. It gives you an opportunity to evaluate your own potential for being a successful home based crafter. You will get a fair idea of what exactly it is that is required of you in a craft job.

SEARCHING FOR CRAFT JOBS NATIONALLY

now that you decided to extend here search for a craft job on a nationwide basis it would be foolish indeed to take advantage of the omnipresence of the Internet in every walk of life. All major businesses have some sort of eight presence on the Internet. This is especially true for the craft business as selling online is a huge potential and market for them. You should look for Web sites that are selling crafts commercially it was there are more likely to hire people to work for them. Your initial searches regarding craft stores may turn up for a websites with craft projects and craft ideas. These are not what you are looking for as mostly all of them except free submissions from craft hobbyists. Do not wasted time contacting them as they are extremely unlikely to be willing to pay someone to summit craft ideas. You need to look for businesses that you can make tangible crafts for one term can sell it for you for either on a commission or profit sharing basis.

By craft magazines and craft journals. There are a rich source of crafting enterprises all across the country. Some of them even really is a complete list of craft businesses all across the country. Note down important addresses and phone numbers. Establish contact.

As mentioned before visiting a craft fair can put you in touch with many people who are involved with the craft business from all over the country. Most of them are from the people and you will get the chance to discuss your ideas that many of them. You are also likely to receive valuable advice from veteran crafters. There is probably no better way of coming in close proximity to the various aspects of a craft job than visiting a variety of craft fairs. There are certain publications that publish a complete calendar for the craft fair is happening on across the country. This is an extremely handy guide you to have as it is very likely that you may be having a craft fair only a few miles from where you live and may not be aware of it. You can buy a craft fair guide and calendar here. A lot of craft fairs happen over the weekend. It may not only prove to be a professionally fruitful but also an extremely pleasant trip for you to make.

Once you have located ideal craft businesses that can be potential employers you need to establish contact with. You need to be able to present your creativity and scale in an enamoring fashion. Finding the right opportunity is only half the battle won. How you present yourself and your crafting skill is going to determine your success or failure just as much.

In the prequel to this writing it mentioned that finding the potential employer is only half the battle won. The next part that follows is just as important and that is how you go about presenting yourself and your talent to the potential employer. There are usually to scenarios when one is applying for a craft job. Either that particular employer is already on the lookout for crafting talent or you are approaching an employer that you are interested in getting hired by even though they are currently not looking for new talent. Both the circumstances are almost similar barring the slightly different approach that is required for each. But we shall consider these later. Let us first deal with the basic approach that you need to take.

Have a portfolio ready
You need to have something to showcase your talent and skill to the person. Nothing speaks better for crafting talent than having a portfolio with photographs of previously done work. Resume for any other job may sound good on paper but you are more likely to impress your employer by showcasing here crafting ability effectively. And nothing does that better than a few high-quality photographs of your and made crafts. You can either choose to have your crafts photographed in a studio you can do them at home yourself. There are several small photography story was that will do the job for you that not much cost. If you feel that you are unable to take high-quality products of products than investing a little money in getting a proper portfolio made might just be worth the effort. Do not under any condition display bad quality photographs that suffering due to blah, poor lighting or just inappropriate settings. A bad quality for your speaks badly for you in more than one way. Not only does it not flatter your crafting talent but also displays unprofessionalism and disinterest in your own work.

Have A Clear Idea Of Your Ability
In order to present yourself and your crafting ability to the fullest you need to have a clear idea of what you can and cannot do. The requirements of a craft job can be very varied. The skill required of you may depend from one craft business to another. You should be able to answer direct questions regarding what you can and cannot do with clearer answers. Know what you want from their job. Do not end up taking up something that you realize he did not enjoy doing. One of the best things about having a craft job at home is that you are able to do make a living are doing something that you truly enjoy. It is akin to turning a hobby into a profession. Landing a craft job that you do not enjoy doing or a job that is beyond your ability will only be detrimental to your career as a home based crafter.

Be Polite:
among all other things be polite and genuine in your communication. Do not overreach and do not over press your employer for a job the matter how desperate you might be for one. Rude and hasty behavior puts off employers really quickly. Make your initial approach in an in intrusive manner by making a call or sending an e-mail requesting a meeting. Be genuinely in communicating your ability in the meeting because sooner or later you are going to have a backup your words with action. After a week or so of your initial meeting, if you have still not heard back from the employer, make a follow-up call to find out. Be polite. Do not press your query but say that you are calling because you were curious as to the outcome of the meeting. In case the reply is not very favorable say a polite goodbye with the statement that you should be kept in mind in case some opportunity arises in the future.

Dealing with the case when the employer that you are interested in getting a craft job with is not hiring, you need to figure out how to make an offer to the employer that they cannot resist. Your best bet is to present your skill in our fashion that makes the employer realize that their business can benefit from hiring you. Being ready with an original craft idea will usually extract good responses. You can have ideas as to make their current craft line better. Communication becomes critical. You need to impress the employer. And for that you need to be someone that can deliver something better than what they already have. Do not waste time with businesses that you cannot match with your crafting talent no matter how much you want to get hired by them. Do not get dis-heartened by rejections. Take time to make yourself better prepared.

Working from home seems like an attractive proposition to a lot of people. Everybody thinks of it as having more freedom for the things you want to do and improving the quality of your life. Being independent with your work means that you either have a business from home or you freelance as a professional. If you are someone who works for himself or herself but wants to work from home as well, you need to evaluate certain matters. The truth is that working from home requires additional motivation. You need to be more versatile and better organized. You need to be prepared to be the solution finder for all matters and sundry that crop up in your business. Consider the following before you consider working from home:

Are you ready to “ Do it Yourself”?

Working for a company mostly has you working with an infrastructural support. You have other people in the office who have separate functions that complement your duties. You have delegation of labor where you can assign several tasks to others. Working from home will most likely mean you handling many of these talks yourself. Unless, of course, you are starting out with a fair investment in infrastructure. You have the option of starting out with additional space and additional employees. You may also outsource your work to companies or freelance professionals for lobs such as marketing, accounting and bookkeeping etc.

Are you disciplined and organized?

You may find it hard to get many things accomplished without the presence of the daily working schedule that working in an office job imposes on you. Working in an office forces you to have a schedule. Being supervised with your supervisors and having to meet goals and deadlines keeps you disciplined and focused. Working from home, you will have to muster the will power to maintain the same, if not a higher, level of discipline. You will not have others to remind you or to depend on in order to be productive. It is one of the biggest setbacks that people face initially while working from home. They find their productivity lacking.

Making goals for yourself is a good tactic to maintain productivity and functionality. Set weekly and monthly goals and try to meet them. When you find yourself slacking, be ready to give your business extra hours.

Can You Resist The Distractions?

This is a collary to the ability to discipline and organize yourself in your work. working from home alienates you from the office environment which is designed with the sole aim of making the people perform to the best of their abilities and productivity. Instead you get all the distraction that are a part of your life at home. If you have a family it might the kids or friends. It may be house work or errands that need to be run. And just because you are there, you might be expected to do it. You may even feel like them getting them out of the way first. The trick is to make a work routine and stick by it as much as you can. It may seem like the obvious thing, but it is important. Your work hours should be treated like so by your family and friends. Make them understand that you are not to be disturbed while working. It is not all that difficult. After setting the example the first couple of times, they all get the message.

Believe it or not sitting on your computer and working can burn calories. If you are working from home, the odds are that you are going to be spending a lot of time in front of your computer. There are exceptions, of course, such as having a home business like crafting, catering etc or running a franchise business from home. But if your home based work involves spending a lot of time in front of the computer then know this, all the time that you spend thinking and brainstorming issues, you are burning up calories.

It is common to feel pangs of hunger or thirst while working and many of us use these needs as an excuse to beak away from what we are doing. Getting up to snack or drink frequently can not only break the working rhythm but can also result in a short break turning in to a longer one. The other thing that can happen is that you end up ignoring your thirst, sometimes for hours on end, resulting in you feeling dehydrated.

Don’t let either of these things happen. Keep a bottle of water near your workstation so that it is a hand’s reach away. Keep a few health energy bars in the drawers of your desk. You can even make yourself a sandwich before you sit down to work if you know for a fact that you get hungry at a certain hour while working.

The secret of working from home is to make these little changes in your focus and discipline. I hope you find this little tip helpful.

Modern Twist to Old Scams

With the rise of the Internet and e-mail, getting a phony ad or message out to a vast audience is cheap and easy. Even though the old work-at-home scams have taken on a modern twist, the typical profile of victims who are most susceptible to these scams has changed very little. Work-at-home con artists have always preyed most heavily upon senior citizens, the disabled, mothers who want to stay at home with their children, people with low income and few job skills, and people who just want to get rich quick.

Cyberspace is simply the newest arena that scam artists have entered to widen their hunt for more people to dupe. To avoid falling for work-at-home scams, both on- and off-line, look for the following warning signs:

Overstated claims of product effectiveness;

Exaggerated claims of potential earnings, profits, or part-time earnings;

Claims of “inside” information;

Requirements of money for instructions or products before telling you how the plan works;

Claims of “no experience necessary.”

Warning List Beware of falling prey to tempting work-at-home promotions that offer “easy money.” You could be at risk for some very bad consequences. You can:

LOSE MONEY! Consumers have lost amounts ranging from $10 to $70,000, or more.

WASTE VALUABLE TIME! You may throw away countless hours on worthless projects that cost you a lot of money to attempt and complete, but, in the end, give you nothing in return.

RUIN YOUR REPUTATION! You can involuntarily sell your customers terrible quality merchandise or nonexistent products and services.

BE A TARGET OF LEGAL ACTION! You can be held liable for perpetrating a fraud by deliberately or even unintentionally promoting and selling fraudulent products or services to others.

Most Common Scams To protect yourself, learn to recognize the most common work-at-home scams.

ASSEMBLY WORK AT-HOME: Typical Ad — “Assembly work at home! Easy money assembling craft items. No experience necessary.”

This scheme requires you to invest hundreds of dollars in instructions and materials and many hours of your time to produce items such as baby booties, toy clowns, and plastic signs for a company that has promised to buy them. Once you have purchased the supplies and have done the work, the company often decides not to pay you because your work does not meet certain “standards.” You are then left with merchandise that is difficult or impossible to sell.

CHAIN LETTER: Typical Ad — “Make copies of this letter and send them to people whose names we will provide. All you have to do is send us ten dollars for our mailing list and labels. Look at the chart below and see how you will automatically receive thousands in cash return!!!”

The only people who benefit from chain letters are the mysterious few at the top of the chain who constantly change names, addresses, and post office boxes. They may attempt to intimidate you by threatening bad luck, or try to impress you by describing themselves as successful professionals who know all about non-existent sections of alleged legal codes.

ENVELOPE STUFFING: Typical Ad — “$350 Weekly Guaran- teed! Work two hours daily at home stuffing envelopes.”

When answering such ads, you may not receive the expected envelopes for stuffing, but instead get promotional material asking for cash just for details on money-making plans. The details usually turn out to be instructions on how to go into the business of placing the same kind of ad the advertiser ran in the first place. Pursuing the envelope ad plan may require spending several hundred dollars more for advertising, postage, envelopes, and printing. This system feeds on continuous recruitment of people to offer the same plan. There are several variations on this type of scheme, all of which require the customer to spend money on advertising and materials. According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, “In practically all businesses, envelope stuffing has become a highly mechanized operation using sophisticated mass mailing techniques and equipment which eliminates any profit potential for an individual doing this type of work-at-home. The Inspection Service knows of no work-at-home promotion that ever produces income as alleged.”

MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING: Typical Ad — “Our products make it possible for people like you to earn more than they ever have in their lives! Soon you can let others earn money for you while you and your family relax and enjoy your affluent lifestyle! No experience necessary.”

Multi-level marketing, a direct sales system, is a well-established, legitimate form of business. Many people have successfully sold the products of reputable companies to their neighbors and co-workers. These people are independent distributors who sell popular products and also recruit other distributors to join them. On the other hand, illegitimate pyramid schemes can resemble these legitimate direct sales systems. An obvious difference is that the emphasis is on recruiting others to join the program, not on selling the product. For a time, new recruits who make the investment to buy product samples keep money coming into the system, but very few products are sold. Sooner or later the people on the bottom are stuck with a saturated market, and they cannot make money by selling products or recruiting. When the whole system collapses, only a few people at the top have made money—and those at the bottom have lost their investment.

ONLINE BUSINESS: Typical Ad — “Turn your Home Computer into a Cash Machine! Get computer diskette FREE! Huge Selection of Jobs! No experience needed! Start earning money in days! Many companies want to expand, but don’t want to pay for office space. You save them money by working in the comfort of your home.”

This is typical of advertisements showing up uninvited in your e-mail—an old scheme advertised in a new way. You pay for a useless guide to work-at-home jobs—a mixture of computer-related work such as word processing or data entry and the same old envelope-stuffing and home crafts scams. The computer disk is as worthless as the guidebook. It may only list free government web sites and/or business opportunities which require more money.

PROCESSING MEDICAL INSURANCE CLAIMS: Typical Ad — “You can earn from $800 to $1000 weekly processing insurance claims on your home computer for health care professionals such as doctors, dentists chiropractors, and podiatrists. Over 80% of providers need your services. Learn how in one day!”

Generally, the promoter of this scheme attracts you by advertising on cable television and, perhaps, by inviting you to a business opportunity trade show at a hotel or convention center. You may be:

Urged to buy software programs and even computers at exorbitant prices; a program selling at a software store for $69 might cost you several thousands of dollars.

Told that your work will be coordinated with insurance companies by a central computer.

Required to pay for expensive training sessions available at a “current special rate” that will be higher in the future, and

Pressured to make a decision immediately.

Most likely, the expensive training sessions are superficial, and the market for your services is very small or nonexistent. The promoter may delay the processing of your job, citing a backlog or mistakes in your work. There may also be no central computer as advertised. You may be left with no way to deliver what you have promised to your clients or customers—if you found any—and with no way to earn any money on you own.

Avoiding Fraud There is no substitute for closely examining any offer which promises or guarantees income from work-at-home programs. If it sounds too good to be true, chances are it’s a scam.

Consider it a warning sign if a worker must buy something in order to start the program. Those interested also should take into consideration that, by becoming involved in a work-at-home scheme, they might well be perpetrating a fraud by selling the program to others, and risk investigation by postal authorities.

For a reliability report on a specific work-at-home company, check first with your local Better Business Bureau.

Signs of a Work-at-Home Scamer A Work-at-Home Scheme Promoter will:

Never offer you regular salaried employment.

Promise you huge profits and big part-time earnings.

Use personal testimonials but never identify the person so that you could check with them.

Require money for instructions or merchandise before telling you how the plan operates.

Assure you of guaranteed markets and a huge demand for your handiwork.

Tell you that no experience is necessary.

Take your money and give you little or nothing in return except heartbreak and grief.

If You Are Victimized

If you become a victim of a work-at-home scheme, ask the company for a refund. If they refuse or give you an evasive response, tell them you plan to notify law enforcement officials.

Keep careful records of everything you do to recover your money. Document your phone calls, keep copies of all paperwork such as letters and receipts, and record all costs involved, including the time you spend. If the company refuses to refund your investment, contact:

The e-mail is enticing: “You get PAID and receive FREE meals, products, and services from big name, recognized companies for your opinion because we need Professional Business Evaluators!”

Those who are looking for extra income can be tempted by ads to recruit “mystery shoppers.” It is true that businesses nationwide use mystery shopping — also known as secret shopping, performance evaluations, service monitoring and quality auditing -as a means to monitor service quality. But how does one earn work as a mystery shopper?

Market research firms, training companies, merchandisers, temporary agencies and other businesses specialize in recruiting mystery shoppers. Unfortunately, so do scam artists. People with the right talents (attention to detail, skilled in communications and completing paperwork) can become paid mystery shoppers, if they avoid the “too good to be true” offers.

The Better Business Bureau advises applicants to carefully research any “mystery shopper” business. Understand whether the company is offering to employ you directly. If you are asked instead to purchase training materials or a directory of companies that supposedly offer mystery-shopping opportunities, exercise caution. BBB experience shows these can be unproductive avenues.

Look for reputable firms that:

Qualify and train mystery shoppers to perform specific evaluations;

Enjoy a good reputation with their clients and shoppers, and

Do not charge a fee to complete an application.

To steer clear of get-rich-quick offers, the BBB advises mystery shopper applicants to:

Ignore claims that you will make big profits easily. Mystery shopping will not make you rich; at best it provides part-time income.

Avoid falling for claims that “guarantee” a position, without training.

Be cautions of unsolicited e-mails offering “work-from-home.”

Never pay money up-front. A legitimate mystery shopping service will not charge money for materials, training or recruiting.

Obtain the name of the company and check the business out with the BBB, local consumer protection agency, and state attorney general

The advertisements are enticing: Earn between $60,000-$80,000 a year investing in DVD movie rental vending machines! Earn $500 per week doing medial billing; we provide the training! Honest, serious home workers can make up to $800 per week for assembling products at home, with NO SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED! Join our Web-broker program and earn substantial commissions as we team you up with Fortune 500 companies!

These and other business opportunity ads may trumpet “be your own boss,” “set your own hours,” “work from home,” and “earn money quickly,” but the Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau know that the end result is substantial consumer injury. BBBs process 10,000 complaints each year from consumers who states they were misled by or lost money to such promotions. In a recent major business opportunity assault launched by the FTC, the 200 defendants caused tens of thousands of consumers to lose a total of more than $100 million.

Before investing in any “biz opp,” the FTC and BBB suggest that consumers:

Look at the ad carefully. If you are being promised lots of money for little time, little work and little experience, there is little chance that the ad is legitimate! If it claims buyers can earn a certain income, it also must give the number and percentage of previous purchasers who achieved the earnings. If an earnings claim is there – but the additional information is not – the business opportunity seller is probably violating the law.

Get earnings claims in writing. If the business opportunity costs $500 or more, then the promoter must back up the earnings claim in a written document. It should include the earnings claim, as well as the number and percentage of recent clients who have earned at least as much as the promoter suggested. If it is a work-at-home or other business opportunity that involves an investment of under $500, ask the promoter to put the earnings information in writing.

Scrutinize franchise offers. If the business opportunity is a franchise, study the disclosure document. Look for a statement about previous purchasers. If the document says there are no previous purchasers but the seller offers a list of references, be careful: the references probably are fake.

Interview each previous purchaser or investor. Do so in person, preferably where their business operates. Beware of paid “shills.” The FTC requires business opportunity promoters to give potential purchasers the names, addresses and phone numbers of at least 10 previous purchasers who live the closest to the potential purchaser. Interviewing previous purchasers helps to reduce the risk of being misled by phony references.

Check on complaint records. Contact the attorney general’s office, state or county consumer protection agency and BBB — both where the business opportunity promoter is based and where you live to find out whether there is any record of unresolved complaints.

Is a well-known company involved? If the business opportunity involves selling products from well-known companies, call the legal department of the company whose merchandise would be promoted. Find out whether the business opportunity and its promoter are affiliated with the company. Ask whether the company has ever threatened trademark action against the promoter.

Consult experts. Talk to an attorney, accountant or other business advisor before you make the deal.

Take your time! Promoters of fraudulent business opportunities often use high-pressure sales tactics. But, if the business opportunity is legitimate, it will still be around when you are ready to decide.

If you’re looking to work at home are finding telecommuting job or business the first thing that you need to learn is to spot and avoid the home-based offer or a home-based opportunity that is a scam. You probably know that there are plenty of these on the Internet. Any time that you type in any keywords in any major search agent that has anything to do with working from home you are swarmed with offers that promise you riches of thousands of dollars every week by a multitude of get rich quick schemes. Please learn to avoid these at any cost.

There is no way that all these schemes will prove to be successful for you and that you will make any money out of this. This is time-tested and proven research that they are all false offers and disguised to mislead you into buying whatever it useless information or secret formula that they have, in fact, when you due search for home-based telecommuting jobs 90% of the time you were be hit with advertisements of this nature.

The sales copy of such advertisements websites are designed to give you false hope and make your expectations rise, they are designed to make a dream the impossible and to touch the very core of your deepest design is. The people who promote such schemes know that times are tough and people are desperate to make any extra cash that they can, and doing so working from home is even more special. There are a lot of people who have time available with them as they are home-based mothers or housewives or unemployed. They may be college students or retired seniors citizens. The only people who make money through these schemes that are promise you great riches are the people selling a these very schemes. The money flows just one way which is from you to that.

You should realise that there is no secret or magic formula of making thousands of dollars every week without doing any work. There are no two ways about this. There is just no secret formula. All the nonsense that you may read about envelopes topping, data entry, transcription, form filling etc is just that, sheer nonsense. No one has ever made any money doing this kind of work. They have only lost the money at stake paid by succumbing to the wonderful treat is offered by these advertisements.

So while looking for work at home the first thing that you need to do is to avoid losing money. Avoid a call and any websites that list work offers such as data entry, form filling, advertisement posting, transcription and similar sounding work offers, any website that does not list itself as an established business enterprise with an address and a phone number is a suspect, they should also be a clear and direct means of contacting somebody at the business office of such a website, and e-mail is just not good enough as you do not know who is answering it and from there.

For the same reason forced box office addresses are also not good enough.
Avoid all websites that promise you thousands of dollars for doing very little or simple work.
Any advertisement website claiming he’d do not require any special skill or private experience in order to accomplish a certain job is again highly suspect. Avoid this kind of offer if at all.

Avoid most of the websites that require you to pay the money in order to receive some information or secret information about making thousands of dollars on the Internet. This is a total hogwash. 99 per cent of the time you will receive information how to advertise and market the same product and website. You will be required to markets this using the paper click search engine campaigns on major search engines such as go-go, he who, MSN Caudillo L.. Instead of earning money would be required to spend some selling the same nonsense to other people. Only when another unsuspecting individual believes your hoax of her, will you make same money and then again be sending that very same information to that individual, 99% of all data entry, form filling or at posting jobs are like this,

Any business website that does not offer direct employment is again the no no. There are exceptions to this which are career and job listing websites that list actual job openings from other companies. However, most of these are free to join and apply to, paying to excess the job databank with a company also should be carefully scrutinised.
Unless you want to be selling the same scam to different people avoid jobs like form filling, advertisement posting data entry and sector.

In this post I am going to describe in detail the two data entry scams that I personally feel a victim of. If I am not very much mistaken these were two very popular kind of scams that were being run and perhaps still out there out there somewhere even today.

Online Data Entry Job:

This company that offered a clean and not confusing way of working. Not to mention it was highly convenient, you pay a fee that was close to $100 and you would be given a login and a password to your own account section. In this account section you found certain files that contain a list that comprised of names of people along with their addresses and phone and fax numbers. There were more than one list present on the account and you could download any one of them to begin your work with. These files were in a PDF format and you were supposed to enter each and every entry in an Excel format spreadsheet. Each list contained several thousand names and addresses. There was no time limit allotted in which you were supposed to finish this project but there was the restrictions on the number of mistakes that you were allowed to make. I believe the maximum number of mistakes was around 10 in a list that contain about 7000 names and addresses phone numbers and fax numbers. I think it is pretty safe to assume that if you sit down to type such an extensive database almost anyone and everyone, barring a machine, will at least make 10 mistakes. What was even more fantastic was that they already had this data typed out neatly and preserved in a PDF file but were asking you to do it all over again in an Excel format spreadsheet. If you look at it logically it just does not make sense. Why should anybody pay you to retype a list that they already have? The answer is the simple. They never had any intention of doing so.
While it will take any normal person weeks after weeks to just finished this simple list for which they pay something like $100, it used to take them only a day or two to analyse the completed list that you sent to them and point out all your mistakes exactly. This obviously means that they had an accurate means of crosschecking the retyped list with the original data. They never really had any need of any person working from home and doing this kind of data entry work. They even went so far to prohibit the use of optical character recognition software saying that it was not allowed. What difference does it make to someone who just wants a list in an Excel spreadsheet format how the list is created? There is no difference between a list that has been typed and one that has been read off an optical Character Recognition software.
Anyway, the final word is that me along with a couple of more people that I knew tried this opportunity out and predictably so, failed miserably at it. There was simply no way of managing this huge data entry list with the kind of accuracy that they demanded. And if that kind of accuracy was to be achieved it would take months on end to simply finish one list that paid you a meagre hundred dollars for all that effort.
But what took the cake was, if you made repeated mistakes in the work that is submitted to the company they cancelled your account after some time and you no longer had access to them. They made sure in every single way that people would subscribe to them and the money would flow only one way. From the innocent people getting scanned by their data entry scheme is to their wallets.
Again, predictably so, this data entry company claims that all its positions were full after a couple of months and stopped taking new subscriptions altogether. And a few weeks down the line of such an announcement this company disappeared altogether without a trace on the Internet. It is probably around even today functioning under some other name and from some other location.

Compiling Mailing List Data Entry Job at Home:

So did I learn anything from a first experience with the so-called and disastrous data entry jobs at home? The answer is, probably not. I still had enough hope or stupidity in me to actually give this kind of work for one more try before I realised the true nature of home based data entry jobs. This company made almost the same promises as the previous one. In fact, as I recall they made better and more convincing ones. The only difference between this and the previous company was that this company said that they would actually mail you a list of data that comprised of names, addresses and phone numbers of people. They needed this to be typed out in an Excel or a tabular format. The company claims that this data was meant for use by clients for marketing and customer service and that this data was in fact the database of several of their businesses and clients. Made perfect sense so far. My positivity however was fast to dissipate when I received this list from the data entry company. The printed pages were obviously nothing more than photocopies of pages from the telephone directory! Nothing else. The pages and the names had all been jumbled up together. The quality of the scan and print out was so bad that it was almost impossible to read any single name and address with any kind of accuracy. Thinking that this might be an inadvertent error on the part of the data entry company I wrote to them repeatedly about the bad quality of the printout but did not receive any response. It was obvious that this was done deliberately and with the obvious purpose in mind. The job was impossible to accomplish and finish.

So while you end up paying to join the company you are handed and impossible data entry jobs which is just not humanly possible to finish. If you are thinking why I simply couldn’t copy the names from the telephone directory if these pages were indeed copy of that, I did mention that the names and the pages were scrambled, which means that the names and addresses were not in an alphabetical order as they are found in a directory but jumbled up altogether and hence impossible to correlate with a phone directory without spending hundreds of hours doing only this.

The variations of data entry scams are many. It is also known by many names such as form filling, ad posting, etc. . The matter what the name says they all have the same feel to the kind of promise that they make. Any sort of a home-based opportunity data entry or anything else, that promises hundreds of thousands of dollars in income working at home every week without needing you to do much work and requiring any prior experience is a scam. You will never get what you asked for. And even if you to get some information in exchange for the money that you paid it will be completely useless and widely diverging from what you signed up for. You will be doing anything and everything else except for typing simple data on your keyboard in the comfort of your home and making hundreds of dollars. There is no secret to making money working at home by doing mundane and mechanical jobs such as data entry, envelope stuffing, transcription and so on and so forth. This secret is not exist yesterday and it certainly does not exist today. Hang on, maybe it does but it is not in all these foolishly bloated and obviously fraudulent opportunities. If such a secret does exist it is certainly not being sold on the Internet to anybody who wishes to shell out $34 for it.

This blog is about home based product assembly and craft jobs jobs. But we know that for people looking for legitimate work at home opportunities, other offers may also hold interest. And we all know that the internet is rife with such offers. What is most important is that at no point you should get scammed by any of these offers and loose money. So what we are going to do is discuss some of the common advertisements and offers that you might come across on the internet and otherwise, one kind belonging to the data entry job scams. Having a complete lay-down on these so called work at home opportunities will help you avoid the scams and loosing money to them in the future.

You should also remember that there are many variations of the same scams going around. So you once you learn to spot one, you should be able to spot them all because they all have a few things in common such as extravagant estimation of income, no requirement for experience or long hour of work, requirement for payment of a fee to join and basically a very sugar coated work at home offer that sounds too good to be true.

In this post we are going to talk about the home based data entry job scams. How they scam you out of your money and how they will ‘never’ make you any money in the long run.

There was a time not so long ago when this was the commonest kind of advertisement to be found for work from home offers. In fact it still is. It is surprising how many people are looking for home based data entry jobs on search engines. Many of these people have not been exposed to the scam this scam before still fall prey. Even people who should know better, regular people who have held regular jobs, students in schools and colleges, retired people at home, all have been made a target for this scam. Certain companies have been so bold as to open physical offices and have had people pay them in person through checks and credit card.

Typical features of a data entry job are:

No special experience necessary. All you are required to do is sit and type.

Easy money and lots of it. More than you could fathom working for a regular job. Some websites will be smart and be more conservative in giving you an estimate of the income in order to make themselves sound like the real deal.

At the end of the order, there will always be a fee that you need to pay to join. This could be anything from $30 – $100 and in some cases go in to several hundred dollars. Some will entrap you with a hefty recurring payment the following month.

They were perhaps thousands of websites bringing out this offer in one way or the other. They all have the same common elements. They promised the same kind of job of simple data entry on your computer with no experience required. Another cunning feature of such websites is that they make it sound like it is they who or offering the job and once you pay you are going to be in their direct employment where they are going to be your paymasters. Such websites still exist with the same fantastic sounding work at home offer.

It was bull crap then and it is bull crap now. What happens in a most of the cases is that once you pay up to be to join this so-called work at home data entry offer you are sent information about how to post similar ads promoting the same fraudulent offer. The data entry that you will be doing is making and typing you ads on various paid to click search engines or typing out endorsements on forums and blogs. You only get paid when you are able to sell the scam to someone else .
What you are going to be doing is promoting the same scam that you are a victim to. This is not genuine work and deceiving other people on the internet is not something that you should consider doing. Not to mention that fact that developing successful campaigns on search engines requires knowledge, expertise and experience which come with time and spending additional money for creating these campaigns.

A lot of people now know not to trust any data entry website that promises great riches without any effort. Some prominent search engines have totally banished advertisements for such websites and websites that link to such work at home offers completely from their search results. Not only will you have a hard time advertising such an offer but even a harder time convincing somebody of actually joining it. But that is besides the point. This kind of work is not a job and will not help you make any money. You should not do anything that is about deceiving others on the Internet. What you should do is report the website to the Better Business Bureau and to your State Attorney General’s office.

All that said, the surprising bit about this scam regarding data entry is that it is still very much around and people are still continuing to fall for it. False companies and websites are still coming up that pull in money from unsuspecting people who want to work at home, these companies stay around long enough under one name to collect in a cash and then usually disappear only to surface in another state under another name.

Avoid all offers to pay to join a data entry or a similar home based clerical job. Even if the company opens an office in your city and even if a lot of people seem to make money out of it initially. It is a scam and they only do this to create an air of legitimacy about themselves. In the long run they will always run away with your money.
